A very high quality work, with stringent technical demands of the highest level, achieved by Ballet Biarritz with convincing perfection.» Ana Remiro, Diaro Vasco / spain, 21 june 2003

Havana, 3 November.
Ballet Biarritz, from France, brought to the Festival of Ballet in Havana a production by his choreographer Thierry Malandain, an aesthete who makes high demands on the perfection and the malleability of the body. [.] Creation, as the ballet is entitled, mixes imagination and virtuosity as it weaves its tale about the origin of man and thrown into it, the origin of dance, from the primitive pleasure of pure movement to the different stages of its evolution.[.] The fourteen dancers are a permanent source of energy on stage. They dance on half-pointes or firm on the floor, with a malleability which shows a rare mastery of their body. Their bodies are exultant, descriptive, expressive.» Anubis Galardy, Prensa Latina / Cuba, 12 November 2004

A top class Creation by a choreographer who, like Prometheus, passes on the sacred fire to his creatures. the remarkable artists of Ballet Biarritz.» RenÉ Sirvin, le Figaro / France, 23 june 2003

The lightness, the audacity of a poetic choreography, all in contrasts served by dancers whose athletic sensuality is clear.» Émerentienne Dubourg, Danse Danse Danse / France, june 2003

Création is an enchanting ballet » FranÇois Fargue, Dance Europe / england, august-september 2003

Here, Malandain showed as much inventivity in the ensembles than in the duos.  These are as varied as the personalities of their interpreters, […] all remarkable dancers, who can express, in their own way, the powerful and earthy style of Thierry Malandain. » Sonia Schoonejans, Ballet 2000 / Europe, july 2003

A breath of fresh air, a different and novel approach. The great surprise of this festival was without any doubt, Ballet Biarritz with its style, unusual for our stages: a mixture of contemporary elements and obvious references to the great classical tradition.» Yuris Nórido, Prensa Nacional / Cuba, November 2004
On Beethoven ‘s grandiose music, in which romantic moments alternate with symphonic gusto, the fourteen dancers of Ballet Biarritz confirmed their excellence in their impeccable corps de ballet movements, but also in their solos, duos and quadrilles.
[.] A boiling, sometimes explosive choreography, both physical and expressive, in its talk about humanity, love, death and rebirth, that eternal circle.» Jean-Michel Collet, L'Indépendant du Dimanche / France, 10 April 2005

Thierry Malandain is known to be the most impassioned of music lovers in the present choreographic panorama. […] Without any doubt, he is the most stimulating among the French neoclassic.» Thomas Hahn, Die Welt / germany, july 2003

His latest piece is a monument.» Ariane Bavelier, Madame Figaro / France, february 2004

One feels elated after such a Création, as if transported towards something which makes things clear and raises you to exaltation.» silvia chaban, danse / france, september 2003

Thierry Malandain is persuasive even when he is just looking at you. His silence hides a deeply hidden character, a mystery stretching out, which is itself that attracting magnet. His performances are like that too. […] They are like a drug. We never tire of them.» Oleg Petrov, critic and writer, presently director of the Institute of Dance in Ekaterinbourg, october 2003

Thierry Malandain and his company are the most brilliant jewel in Aquitaine, the must of a sunny Biarritz. With the ease of a Mozart, Malandain creates fanciful works in which he mixes a deep knowledge of philosophy, of history and of music with the most varied forms of theatre. Besides, like a virtuoso, he juggles with technique but beauty is his main concern. According to him, human beings are born to dance like birds are born to fly.» Alexandre Firer, Moscou-Soir / Russie, juin 2005
